If ordinary lathes and long-term lathes used are not modified and only new CNC lathes are purchased, it will increase the cost of equipment for many manufacturers. So it is necessary for manufacturers to carry out CNC transformation on ordinary lathes and lathes that have been used for a long time.
Due to the complexity and chaos of CNC transformation for manufacturers, how to control the quality of the transformed CNC machine tools has always been a problem that we need to explore. Here, we will discuss how to carry out quality control of the transformed CNC lathe.
The CNC transformation of ordinary lathes can be divided into new machine transformation and old machine transformation. New machine transformation refers to the purchase of ordinary lathes or ordinary light machines (referring to lathes with only headstocks and longitudinal and transverse guide rails) by users, and the transformation manufacturer carries out CNC transformation according to their requirements. Old machine renovation refers to the renovation and CNC transformation of an already used ordinary lathe or CNC lathe by users. The renovation of old machines includes the renovation of major lathes and the renovation of old machine components for users. Here is a brief discussion on the quality control methods, key control points, and inspection process of transforming CNC lathes in mechanical aspects.
Both new machine renovation and old machine overhaul lathe renovation must undergo the same transformation as the following
① Replace the X-axis and Z-axis screw rods, bearings, and motors.
② Add electric tool holders and spindle encoders.
③ Add drive devices for axial motors, limit travel switches for over travel, install frequency converters (customer required), and electrical components necessary for processing and safety.
④ Scraping of the supporting surfaces at both ends of the X-axis and Z-axis screw rods, scraping of the ball screw bracket and bed saddle, scraping of the bed body and bed saddle guide rail.
⑤ Add protective facilities as needed, such as protective covers for directional screw rods, safety doors, and protective devices for travel switches.
