The effective alloying elements in the alloy composition include aluminum, copper, and magnesium; Harmful impurity elements include lead, cadmium, tin, and iron.
Aluminum effect:
① Improve the casting performance of alloys, increase their flowability, refine grain size, cause solid solution strengthening, and improve mechanical properties; ② Reduce the reactivity of zinc to iron and reduce erosion of iron materials such as goosenecks, molds, and tongs.
The aluminum content should be controlled between 3.8% and 4.3%. Mainly considering the required strength and flowability, good flowability is a necessary condition for obtaining a complete, accurately sized, and smooth surface casting.
Copper action:
1. Increase the hardness and strength of the alloy; ② Refine the alloy structure to increase its strength; ③ Reduce intergranular corrosion.
Disadvantages: ① When the copper content is greater than 1.25%, the size and mechanical strength of the die casting will change due to aging, which means that after the die casting, it will shrink once and then turn to expand; ② Reduce the ductility of the alloy.
Magnesium action:
1. Reduce intergranular corrosion; ② Refine the alloy structure to increase its strength; ③ Improve the wear resistance of the alloy.
Disadvantages: ① When the magnesium content is greater than 0.08%, heat embrittlement occurs, toughness decreases, and fluidity decreases; ② Easy to oxidize and lose in the molten state of the alloy.
