Defects in Aluminum Alloy Die Castings

1. Flow marks and patterns (stripes): Flow marks and patterns (stripes) are marks left by the molten alloy that first enters the mold cavity, forming an extremely thin and uneven metal layer that is later compensated by the molten alloy.

2. Cold junction (cold junction): Cold junction (cold junction) is a gap that occurs when metal flows at lower temperatures are interconnected but not fused.

3. Depression: A depression is a part of a smooth surface of a die casting that appears to have a depression, and its surface is naturally cooled.

4. Bubble (Bubble): Bubble (Bubble) is a bubble formed by the accumulation of gas under the surface of a die casting.

5. Pores and pinholes: Pores and pinholes are holes (mostly circular or elliptical) formed by the gas trapped inside the die-casting part, with a relatively regular shape, smooth surface, and a dark gray surface.

6. Shrinkage and porosity: Shrinkage and porosity are irregular and rough surface pores caused by insufficient internal compensation during the condensation process of die castings.

7. Cracks: Cracks are fine wire like gaps formed by the destruction or fracture of the alloy matrix on die-casting parts. There are two types of cracks: cold cracks and hot cracks. Cold cracks are not oxidized, while hot cracks are oxidized.

8. Undercasting: Undercasting refers to the incomplete filling of parts on die castings due to incomplete filling of the molten metal in the mold cavity.

9. Flash: A flash is a thin metal sheet that appears on the edge of a die casting. Also known as Pi Feng。

10. Mold crack: Mold crack is a stripe printed on a die casting due to mold cracks (cracks).

11. Layered (interlayered): Layered (interlayered) refers to the presence of distinct metal layers locally on die castings.

12. Misalignment: Misalignment refers to the misalignment of one part and another part on the parting surface of a die casting, resulting in relative displacement. Also known as misalignment.

13. Deformation: Deformation refers to the overall deformation of a die casting that does not meet the geometric shape and design requirements.

14. Scratches (pull marks, mold sticking marks): Along the direction of demolding, due to metal adhesion, the mold manufacturing slope is too small, resulting in a scratch mark on the surface of the casting. In severe cases, it becomes a scratch surface.

15. Collision marks: scars on the surface of a casting caused by impact.

16. Hard spots (oxidation inclusions, slag inclusions): There are small particles or blocks with a hardness higher than that of the metal matrix in the casting matrix, which makes machining difficult and causes severe tool wear. After machining, hard spots of different brightness are often displayed on the casting.

17. Brittleness: The basic metal grains of the casting are too coarse or small, making the casting prone to fracture or crushing.

18. Leakage: Water leakage, air leakage, or water seepage occurs in die castings after testing.

19. Chemical composition does not meet the requirements: After chemical analysis, the alloy elements of the casting do not meet the requirements or there are too many impurities.

20. Mechanical properties do not meet the requirements: the mechanical strength and elongation of the casting alloy are lower than the required standards.

Re:Yes, we are a professional metal fabrication factory with an experienced engineering team to make custom products according to clients’drawings.

 

Q2: Will my drawing be safe after you get it?

Re:Yes, we will not release your design to third party without your permission. And we can sign the NDA before you send the drawing.

 

Q3: Is the price the same for different surface treatments?

Re: no, the price of the plating is higher than the anodic oxidation.

 

Q4. If I choose plating process, all color can do?

Re: no, plating process with current technology can't be all color, can only do several conventional color, such as: black, white, gray, silver, gold, etc.

 

Q5: How do you do OEM or ODM service?

Re: Customer’s logo can be embossed on our case. But you need to send us the logo in AI or Cdr or PSD format. We will ask our designer to make a drawing for you to have a check how it looks on our case.
