General inspection standard for appearance of die castings
Purpose: To provide a visual inspection basis for die-casting parts and ensure that the die-casting blanks meet customer requirements.

Scope: Die-casting parts

Die casting blank: refers to a die casting product that has undergone aging treatment, polishing, sandblasting, and shaping.

Die casting machine processing:The process of accurately removing die-casting materials through machining machinery.

External defects and definitions

Sticking mold: Along the direction of demolding, due to metal adhesion, the mold manufacturing slope is too small, resulting in strain marks on the surface of the casting. In severe cases, it is called a strain surface.

Layering: There are obvious metal layers locally on the casting

Cracks: There are linear or wavy patterns on the surface of the casting, which are narrow and long and tend to develop under external forces.

Deformation: Due to uneven shrinkage or external forces, the geometric shape of the die casting does not match the drawing.

Flow marks: streaks on the surface of die-casting parts that align with the direction of metal flow. No development trend.

Water streaks: Smooth streaks on the surface of castings that are visible to the naked eye but cannot be felt by hand. The color of the streaks is different from that of the base metal. They can be removed by wiping with a few sandcloth.

Cold insulation: On the surface of die-casting parts, there are obvious, irregular, and sunken linear patterns (both penetrating and non penetrating). Small and narrow in shape

Long, sometimes with smooth edges and the possibility of breakage.

Cracking burr: A network of raised marks and metal spikes on the surface of a casting caused by thermal fatigue on the surface of the mold cavity.

Depression: There is a smooth depression on the surface of the thick part of the casting.

Undercasting: There are areas on the surface of the casting where there is insufficient pouring, resulting in unclear contours.

Flashing, burrs: Metal flakes or rough, sharp edges appear at the edge of the parting surface.

Misalignment: One part of the casting is misaligned with another part on the parting surface, resulting in relative displacement.
