Defects in ABS plastic injection molding and their solutions
During the injection molding process of ABS plastic products, some defects may be encountered, such as bubbles, white spots, and dark areas around the material head. These issues not only affect the quality of products, but may also have a negative impact on production efficiency. This article mainly explores the causes of these defects and corresponding solutions.
1. Bubbles
The main reason for the generation of bubbles is thermosensitive materials processed at high temperatures. If the molding temperature is too high, material decomposition can occur through molecular splitting, which poses a risk of thermal degradation of the molten material, and bubbles are easily generated during the molding process.
Solution:
Reduce the barrel temperature, screw back pressure, and screw speed.
When setting process parameters, excessive injection speed should be avoided when the temperature of the material barrel is too high.
2. White dots
The main reason for the occurrence of white spots is that the injection speed is too high, the melt flow speed is too fast and the viscosity is high, and the local materials around the material head are simply misaligned and infiltrated.
Solution:
Reduce injection speed and adjust processing parameters.
Ensure stable mold temperature to reduce material adhesion within the mold.
3. There are dark areas around the material head
The main reason for the formation of dark areas around the material head is that when processing high viscosity materials, the injection speed is too high, the melt flow speed is too fast and the viscosity is high, and local materials around the surface of the material head are simply misaligned and infiltrated.
Solution:
Reduce injection speed and adjust processing parameters.
The flow behavior of the melt can be optimized by increasing the mold temperature and adjusting the injection speed.
