一、 Mold type and structure
Injection mold is a common type of plastic molding mold, which can be divided into the following types based on its structural characteristics:
1. Embedded mold: This type of mold has an embedded cavity that can be opened by rotating or sliding, suitable for processing small and precision plastic products.
2. Integrated mold: The overall structure of the mold is simple, easy to operate, and suitable for producing large and simple plastic products.
3. Combined mold: It is composed of multiple individual molds and can flexibly replace different cavities, suitable for multi variety and small batch production.
二、 Material selection and heat treatment
The selection and heat treatment of mold materials have a crucial impact on the quality and service life of molds. Generally speaking, the materials for injection molds can be steel, aluminum alloy, zinc alloy, etc. Among them, steel has high strength and wear resistance, suitable for use in large and precision molds; Aluminum and zinc alloys have good portability and workability, making them suitable for small and simple molds.
Heat treatment is an important step in improving the performance of molds, including quenching, tempering, surface strengthening, etc. By using a reasonable heat treatment process, the hardness, strength, and wear resistance of the mold can be improved, and the service life of the mold can be extended.
三、 Forming process and equipment
Injection molding is the use of an injection machine to inject plastic melt into the mold cavity, and after cooling, obtain the desired shape of plastic products. The main process parameters of injection molding include injection pressure, injection speed, temperature, etc. At the same time, selecting a suitable injection machine is also crucial for the smooth progress of the molding process.
Injection mold steel is the steel used for manufacturing injection molds. Injection mold is an important equipment for plastic processing and molding, which injects plastic raw materials into the mold to form various shapes of plastic products at a certain temperature and pressure.
Injection mold steel needs to have performance characteristics such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high strength, and high toughness to ensure that the mold can maintain good accuracy and lifespan during use.
Common injection mold steels include:
45 # steel: Low price, good processing performance, but poor toughness.
2. Cr12MoV steel: High carbon and high chromium alloy tool steel, with high hardness and wear resistance, but poor toughness.
3. H13 steel: High temperature alloy tool steel, with excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance, suitable for manufacturing complex injection molds.
SKD61 steel: High corrosion resistance, high strength, and high toughness injection mold steel, suitable for manufacturing large injection molds.
5. 718H steel: High temperature and high strength injection mold steel, suitable for manufacturing injection molds that require high corrosion resistance and high strength.
When selecting injection mold steel, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as mold usage requirements, cost budget, and processing technology. At the same time, attention should also be paid to the quality and purity of the steel to ensure the performance and service life of the mold.
