Material of fins：
The heat sink materials are arranged in descending order of thermal conductivity, namely silver, copper, aluminum, and steel. Due to the high price of silver, copper and aluminum alloys are often used. Copper has good thermal conductivity, but it is expensive, difficult to process, weighs too much, has a small heat capacity, and is prone to oxidation. Pure aluminum is too soft to be used directly. Aluminum alloy has sufficient hardness, low price, light weight, and inferior thermal conductivity to copper. Some radiators embed copper plates on the base of aluminum alloy radiators to improve heat transfer performance.
Thermal conductive medium
The thermal conductive media mainly include thermal conductive silicone (also known as heat dissipation paste), graphite film, aluminum foil thermal conductive gasket, and phase change thermal conductive gasket with external protective film. The thermal conductive medium is mainly used to fill the gap between the heat sink and the surface of the CPU, enabling the CPU and heat sink to tightly bond, making it easy for heat to be transferred to the heat sink. Reduce contact thermal resistance.
The most commonly used is thermal conductive silicone. Apply an appropriate amount of silicone grease on the contact surface between the heat sink and the CPU surface to fill the gaps and ensure good heat conduction. Different companies have different compositions of silicone grease, among which products with metal oxides added (mostly dark gray) have better results.
